So far as of running the latest build 1803 I have not come across any issue, the only thing you might want to take note is when maxing out everything in the NVidia control panel watch out for antialiasing FXAA can cause the game to have an odd effect with having blurry shifts during the game. that is if you are with NVidia. never had my friend have issues on the AMD side.

but yeah it runs like a dream.
Doesn't run in windows 10.

You sure? it should run without any issues, even the old retail version on disc runs on 10 with no issues once you get rid of windows live thing.

What are your specs? Maybe I can help you out here to get it to run, if it is what I think it is.

Installed RAM 8.00 GB
Go in order

Method 1

I have had this issue on my media PC and I have the same CPU on that thing. What we are dealing with here is a very fussy game when it comes to It's GPU selection. My 8700k will flat out not work with this game with integrated graphics, no matter what I tried. the I3 series had much more success, maybe due to the chip using an older code? who knows. if this method does not try this.

Now for method 2

https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/download/details.aspx?id=8109

Download this and make a folder called games. and a folder in games folder called DirectX and extract it into it. then go into the DirectX folder where you extracted it and install the program from within the folder. and re install the game as well into the game folder to take advantage of this.

next

Go to control panel and uninstall programs. on the left you will see turn windows features off and on. select legacy conponant and direct play from that and click on the net framework 3.5 (includes .net 2.o and 3.0

and have net framework 4.7 clicked as well then your pc should download the required files and restart.

Sometimes you might need to right click on the icon of the game and put it in compatibility mode, Sometimes but this can help as well. I never had to use it but who knows.

after that the game should boot. SHOULD boot if not then I think you might have one of those chips that just don't want to deal with anything hard. and you might need to get like a 1050 or 1050 ti to add and enjoy the game right.

WHAT!!! really?????? shit dude, If that did not work then I guess you will have to buy a 1050 or TI version to play the game... start saving up! and good luck!
Some games do not want to work nicely with integrated graphics even it should have enough muscle, hence the mod to make the game think you have a graphics card installed even you do not really.

after clicking play on the launcher, it just says incompatible app and prompts you to download gfwl and if you click cancel you just get the message fallout 3 goty has stopped working, but it worked fine on vista and win 8.1 :(

I did not download gfwl when it prompted me and I could start the game from the launcher without problems. Windows 10 as well.
low rated
Bought the game cheap, GOG was suppose to be the best working version for fallout. I guess this was pure bullshit because STEAM version I can get working with some crashes but GOG's, I can't even get access to the fucking main menu. So here's my solution...

Stick to fucking STEAM.
Now since the 1803 update it's stopped giving any error messages,or prompting for any downloads, the launcher comes on just fine but pressing play just gives a black screen for about 5 seconds and the it just crashes back to desk

i just tried a verify again just in case, but no effect as usual
Hey all, been wanting to start a new playthrough after running through NV again, and am having a serious hell of a hard time doing to. I can't even start the game, whether GOG OR Steam. I get this screen when i click new game, with a black screen, and weird HUD

I've tried everything that i can see to fix it, whether disable GFWL, core fix, compatibility settings, Intel workaround, you name it. Has anyone had the same issue, and had any luck fixing it? --- NO mods, completely vanilla.

PC Specs:

Intel i7-4790k

GTX 1080Ti

32GB DDR3 Ram

ASUS Sabertooth MK 1 Motherboard

Windows 10 x64

Kingston HyperX Fury 240gb SSD

Seagate Barracuda 2TB HDD
