Every time I launch Fallout 3, I get as far as the title screen. I've gone through it with FOSE and just the base game but it keeps crashing a second or two after pressing new game or gets stuck on the loading screen. I've downloaded that d3d9 thing to try and help but after that I can't even get it to the title screen it just turns black and crashes.

I have one mod, the unofficial Fallout 3 patch, and I'm running it on an old Toshiba laptop that runs a heavily modded New Vegas pretty well with no crashes. I tried to do the Steam version but everything it asked me to do wasn't working. I bought the GOG version thinking it would work and now it's not so I'm just really needing some help. So now I'm mad, tired, and just want to play Fallout 3 for God's sake.

I am not knowledgeable of computers and code and modding. I just know how to manually download mods, and click ok on installers. So please speak to me as if I wouldn't know what something is and any help would be appreciated.
