Hello there. I'm having a problem when launching FO3 via FOSE and/or the Launcher. Everything will act normal even when clicking the new game option. It will load/ Then, Crash. I do have mods but they aren't the problem since I disabled all of them to make sure. If anyone could help me on this, that will be fantastic. Kinda sucks since the GOG version fixes all of the Windows live crap issue.

(Also, just an FYI, I did use to own the Steam version of FO3 and it had my old saves. Maybe that could be the problem?)

Holy crap, your solution actually works. I was having doubts doing it was because FNV and the steam version of FO3 work flawlessly. Not sure why the GOG version wanted to be an odd fellow. Unless Gambryo is just a picky dick. Thanks, man :)

That doesnt help me any. I've purchased FO3 (for the third time) just to get it to work with Windows10 and have had no success on any of the suggestion s of Berthesda, Steam or any other forum, which seems to have the same suggestions phrased differently. Any other suggestions other whats already out there? Otherwise my only choice is to get with tech support, make the attempt and then request a refund.

It's full offline installer (c.a. 96 MB). It will unpack where you select (e.g. "C:\DX") and then run "DXSETUP.exe" (as admin if you have UAC enabled).

Mentioned library file didn't alone helped me.

.dll file goes to game installation folder and .ini to documents/mygames/proper game folder.

It also works for Fallout New Vegas.

Out of some reason I cannot run FO3 and FONV from gog galaxy, as game will crash right after chosing "new". Have to launch .exe from installation folder. All runs ok... at least for now.

Cool bro, after I had done all the steps related to the Intel HD graphics card and was about to give up I found out that the game works if I don't run it from the GOG shortcut. Solved for me!

Sorry to necro, but I've done everything up to and including this, but it still crashes after I hit New. I don't know what to do.

Fallout 3 crashs each time I try to run it on my win 7 PC.
What a waste of money. This used to work on a lower spec system.

Tried 5 different work around and none worked.

This worked for me on both W7 and W8.1 on a pc with an nVidia GPU and without an Intel GPU:
- go to your 'My documents' folder and go to 'My games' and then the Fallout3 directory
- if you're uncertain about the things below, copy fallout.ini first
- right click fallout.ini and choose properties
- if the Read-only box is checked, uncheck it
- open fallout.ini with notepad or another text editor
- Find the line bUseThreadedAI=0 and change it to bUseThreadedAI=1
- insert a line after that one and add iNumHWThreads=2
- save the file
- to prevent (automatic) changes by Fallout 3 or mod/mod managers, right click fallout.ini and mark it Read-only

There is no fallout.ini in the folder, so I don't know how your suggested fix would work.

Not a single one of these solutions is working on my version of Fallout 3. I have a Windows 8 computer that was updated to windows 10 for free, with the Intel GPU.

Guess I wasted about 20 dollars on this game. So many nostalgic memories, man.

Integrated graphics are NOT officially supported. Three is a mod that tries to make it work anyway as long as your iGPU is powerful enough. Lots of threads in here about it so go search.

Hopefully it will work. Funny enough that FNV works just fine on my PC.
