I have played Fallout 3 un-modded on my Windows 10 laptop the autumn of 2022. Only changes I did was running it as an administrator and ticking the compatability box. Then I upgraded my laptop to Windows 11, and suddenly Fallout 3 won't play. I get the menu, and can adjust the options and when I click play, two black pop-ups show, one bigger than the other. It lingers for a short while, then nothing. The .ini file suggested to adjust, is already adjusted to the digits suggested. Still no game. I see that several forums suggest downloading som mods, I have tried those too, but with no modding experience, I haven't gotten it to work. Same with deleting and re-installing it, the same black pop-ups. Running it as an administrator or ticking the compatability box (I think I tried all the options of previous Windows OS', and no dice. Any other things a newbie could try to get the game to work? I suspect something crucial changed when I upgraded to Windows 11. I really enjoyed it the short time I got to play it, and would love to continue playing it.

I'm playing Fallout 3 on Windows 11. My only issue is the game is too fast, but it plays. I seem to get shot before I can even set the reticle or click the mouse. I've tried it with no compatibility settings, and it works. However, it seems to work a bit better with compatibility at XP SP3. 9th Gen Core I7 processor and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050.
