UniversalWolf: In that case I'll be buying the rights to System Shock. When I turn it into a text-based teen vampire romance simulator called System Shock 3, you'll just have to get used to it. It's a dead franchise, so you should be grateful.
Okay. Make sure to re-release SS1 while you're at it, I'm tired of constantly pirating a working version.
Seriously tho, reviving a dead franchise and continuing it with something different changes nothing. I can still play System Shock 1 and 2. Why should I care? There are more franchises I'm a fan of, and there are some I now consider "dead" due to new releases, but you won't see me running around, decrying them and all of their fans. What, did you think Fallout fans are some sort of special snowflakes?
UniversalWolf: I'd say that proves my point. I stated my opinion. Other people stated their opinions. You're the first one who has come out swinging - it's not a coincidence that your appearance here coincides with the release of Bethesda's properties on GOG.com. I've been here for years, offering help to anyone I can.
Cute. For future reference, there's a 'registered' date right below an avatar. There's also a rep number, which is pretty damn useless, but can serve as a decent indicator of a member's activity. Might be written in the same font as thread titles are, probably why you missed those. Anyway, I believe I should also remind you of your first post in this topic, which went along the lines of "Fans of new Fallout games really annoy us with their talk about new Fallout games!" Sure,
not taking swings at all. And before you pull "But that's my opinion!", my opinion is that that behavior is insanely idiotic.
UniversalWolf: And clash of opinions NOT aside, it makes sense to have separate boards for Bethesda's Fallout games because I won't be posting there at all. I don't want to put up with that just as much as Bethesda's fans don't want to put up with me.
a) I'm still waiting for a reasonable explanation of how difficult reading thread titles is. I don't know, I always do - and when it's a topic I do not wish to discuss, I don't open it. It's pretty simple actually.
b) You're still acting as if there's no conjunction between Bethesda fans and original Fallout fans.
UniversalWolf: Honestly, this anger is a one-way street. I don't hate you or think you're an idiot.
Oh I don't know enough to hate you. I'm not even particularily angry, more along the lines of sad and disappointed.
UniversalWolf: It bothers me that you don't seem to care about maintaining the original intent and vision of the brilliant designers of Black Isle, without whom there would be no Fallout for Bethesda to buy. If you had ever created something cool, then had someone else with a lot of money come along and buy it purely to exploit it for their own business interests, you might change your tune.
...
Like I said,
you get to have new Fallout games you don't hate. I don't. Bethesda destroyed a franchise I liked in order to make games
you like. You might want to remember that, because it's not opinion; it's fact for a lot of people. What you
don't get to have is new Bethesda Fallout games
and a world where no one says anything bad about them. That's not my fault; it's Herve Caen's fault and Bethesda's fault.
How exactly do you expect to change
any of that by constantly denouncing Bethesda, their fans and their games? It only has one effect, which is creating a more hostile environment - that's it. The reason I don't join most online communities is that I have difficulties with controlling how I express myself when a comment riles me up. The reason I felt like I could join these was that this quite simply did not happen at the time. Discussions were on entirely different level. As a matter of fact, while googling my name in these subforums, I
found the topic I was referring to. It's befrore the game's release, sure, but at that time I was frequenting three discussion boards - two of them had people with significant ammount of utterly idiotic comments, like yours, and then there was this one, in which even people not liking what they have seen took time to politely express their worries. The boards actually deserved to be called "Discussion" boards back then. I'm pretty sure there's only one trollish, ill-explained post in that entire topic.
So, just do tell me - if you claim there's no anger involved, what's your goal? Where are you going with this behavior? Right now, all you're going to achieve is reinforcing opinion of people liking Fallout 3, as that is the automatic defensive reaction. So what exactly is the grand scheme here aside from being an ass? And that question actually sort of applies to anyone doing that sort of crap.
