So I recently started playing Fallout 2 again, and I love that the new version now actually has a high res patch right out of the box.

I noticed though that no matter what settings I use, I sometimes get some extreme lag when entering a new area. The choppiness goes away after a couple of seconds in *most* cases, although rarely it actually forces me to save and restart to get rid of it.

Anybody else have that problem?

EDIT: The San Francisco docks and the central New Reno street are especially bad for some reason.

I can't be the only one with that problem...

Can it be due to 'too high' resolution? I remember I had a bit of stuterring problem if I tried to play in 1680x1050 and I ended up with only slightly bigger resolution than 'normal'.
