Hey all!

I have a problem running Fallout 2 in full screen on Windows 10. When I tried to launch Fallout 1 it had the same issues. It showed black screen (with hi-res patch) but I've managed to fix it by running the game in Windows 95 compability mode.
I've tried to do the same in Fallout 2 but whenever I try to launch it it gives me this error:

Fallout appears to be running in compatibility mode.
Please check the compatibility tab of fallout2.exe, and ensure that the following settings are unchecked.
Run this program in compatibility mode for..., run in 256 colours, and run in 640x480 resolution.
If these options are disabled, click the 'change settings for all users' button and see if that enables them.

I've also tried to change Mode to 4 in ddraw.ini and it allows me to launch the game in full screen mode but then I have another problem. The game tries to fit entire playable area on the screen and everything looks extremely small. Also menus, texts, etc seem to ignore 2x scaling and are also very very small.

Game works well only if I launch it in windowed mode.
Has somebody encountered the same problem?

Try downloading the Restoration Project from here: http://www.killap.net/ and see if that works. MAKE SURE that it's not running in compatibility mode and that you're running it as administrator. It's best to do all of this after you reinstall the game, seeing as how you tweaked the .ini files a bit.

After the reinstall (if you wish to do it), make a backup of the ddraw.dll file in your Fallout 2 directory, then after installing Restoration Project, if the game still won't work, copy the backup ddraw.dll back to overwrite a new one.

Good luck!
