On Fallout 2, when I move on the overmap it moves at an incredible pace - far faster the F1. Research on the Internet shows this is due to processor speed, and I did find some EXE patches for it, but I am presently using the high-res mod 1.8 which was suggested on this forum and I am uncertain as to whether it will be compatible.
I do not care whether my save games are recoverable or not - I was going to start over anyway from my current character (bloody pickpocketing kids took all my stuff before I even knew I was under attack :( )

Try here. There's Killap's unofficial patch, and an encounter patch as well, if the former doesn't work
I'll reinstall F2 and then try that on it.
EDIT
Yeah that got it, thanks.

I'll have to try this as well, I only recently started the 2nd one after finally beating the first, and I also noticed the travel time is pretty quick, though I don't think it affects your chances of encounters. I LOVE getting ambushed, it's like free xp / ammo / stimpacks lol.

Yeah, I almost don't put any skills into wilderness because I like it.
It might affect the chance of random encounters.
When I played F2 for the first time I had lots of them - now, with the extreme pace of the world map travelling, I barely had two. My "wilderness" skills are even lower than before. I will surely try the patch.
