It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Every time I try to start up Fallout 2, the game immediately launches into a black screen and locks the computer up. The only way to fix it is by doing a hard reboot.

I'm running Windows 7.

I don't think it could be a hardware or driver issue, but just in case, my video card is an ATI Radeon 5450.

Any suggestions or fixes for this?

Btw, I've already tried the patches. They did nothing.

Edit: Nevermind, solution found. Had to set the firewall to game mode.

Just generic advice here, don't look for anything clever, but what the hell...

Try sfall, the hi-res patch (I assume you tried this one, so just skip this part).

Update your video card drivers.

Install the game to somewhere other than "C:\Program Files", say "C:\Games" to avoid issues with UAC.

Try re-downloading the game to make sure your gog package is not corrupted.

If is still doesn't work, read the next post, it's surely got better advice for this specific problem.
None of this worked. I feel like I just wasted $6.
