After I downloaded fallout 2, I had the color problem, so I downloaded the unofficial patch to try and counter it, but now when I try and run it, an error message claiming "Fallout appears to be running in compatibility mode" pops up and it doesn't let me play. I have checked, and it is not in compatibility mode. Fallout seems to be one of the main sellers of GoG, but so far I am dissapointed with it.
Well, I got that problem fixed just for it to be replaced with another. When I load it up now it makes a beeping noise from my computer, and a little pop-up tells me an "application error has occurred " Fallout 2 is experiencing difficulty and has closed. Wish I could have gotten some game where I didn't have to work through a chain of problems like this.
all you have to do to fix the color problem, at least for me, is to play the game with the screen from the start menu named "computer". works like a charm
What do you mean by "from the start menu named 'computer'"? Where is this?
yeah i had that prob too.
heres exactly what i did:
checked compatibility mode to win 98/me and applied.
saw it didnt work.
tried win 2000 and applied. still didnt work.
unchecked compatibility mode and applied. it worked.
my guess is you have to enable it, then disable it/
i'll try that, thanks
i run FO2 from a mounted virtual drive. open start menu and click the computer button. if you are running it from a drive, you should see FALLOUT2 and a nuclear fallout symbol by it. Double click it and leave that "computer" window open. Then you should be able to run the game without color problems.
Sorry, this is kinda hard to explain.
The game was published in 1998 so another solution may be to run in win 95 or 98 compatibility mode or just to change the color to a simpler format?
