Ok, I'm in Mordoc and I accepted the "Find Jonny" quest so that stupid dog kept following me.
Now I already had three companions with me so my space was full, but I know that the dog doesn't count.
Now I have finished the quest, the dog has gone, but my companions will not follow me around! If I move from one place to the other they just stay put in the green area and refuse to follow me! Is this a glitch? I've tried talking to them and telling them to wait here, then asking to follow - no movement. I've tried talking to them about their combat and telling them to keep close, but to no avail.
What is going on? Has anyone else had this problem?

sounds weird, but have you tried completely leaving the area? do they appear in the next area with you or just disappear completely? you might also try going all the way to the map/travel screen and see if they appear when you go to the next place.
if that doesn't work then i got no ideas except trying to talk to them to make sure they're still in your party

Yep I've travelled around the whole of the core and still can't get them to follow. I talk to them and they seem to be in my party. Can you dismiss them and recruit them again?

Save first and then try it. I know a couple of times I had to tell them to follow me, wait and then follow me again before they would actually follow me.

Do they happen to have broken limbs? If you fell into the hideout under the shack in the Ghost farm you probably broke your and your companions legs. You probably can use doctor skill to fix them if you can't get them to follow you to a doctor. (don't remember if they had to be near you to get fixed by a doctor, it's been over a year since I played). Other place you can easily get broken limbs is if you blow up the outhouse.

Question: Did you happen to sleep with the butchers daughter, and then her dad busted into the room, you told him your a doctor and he felt into it? So that you got away without marrying her? Because if you did so, you´re encountering one of the nastier bugs of the game. Your companions won´t follow you around anymore, regardless that you do. Call it moral punishment. Only known solution: Reload and don´t sleep with her - or face the consequences and meet her at the altar.

What up dude. You posted this a while ago but I was just browsing and came across it. It's basically a bug that is activated when you sleep with Miria or Davin. I copied and pasted from a Fallout 2 walkthrough I like. Here's how to fix it:

There's a nasty bug here you have to look out for: if you sleep with Miria or Davin and don't follow through with the wedding, your party members stop following you; they will come with you from map to map but stay rooted except in combat mode. This can be fixed by either of the following: 1) Getting married. 2) Having the Val/Vic conversation in Vault City. 3) Watching the Vault 13 video sequence. 4) Watching the Brotherhood video sequence in SF. Note that even if you don't have any party members at the time, you will still experience the effects of the bug if you should ever pick up any.

Also, if you want to see the walkthrough in its entirety it's at:
