Yes, I realize there's another thread for this, but nothing there is availing me. I'm running Windows 7 64 bit and the colors are atrocious. I tried running it in 256 color and 640x480, as someone in the last topic suggested, but that didn't work. There's a space to change the operating system, but what should I change it to, since Win7 isn't an option? I hate to be annoying and take up forum space with a repeat topic, but it's very frustrating to have purchased this game (even if it was at an awesome six bucks), but not be able to play it due to owning 7 and not XP or VISTA. The space outside the previous topic declares the problem solved, but that isn't the case for me.
Thx and kudos to any new ideas.
Also, I don't own Fallout 1, so porting one of the files over isn't an option, as seemed to be one of the main solutions in the other thread.

You could try sfall, it comes with it's own ddraw.dll file. If just installing it (by extracting to fallout 2 folder) doesnt help, try to set the dx9 mode in ddraw.ini file.
Killap's patch and restoration project also come with old verison of sfall. To use latest sfall with killaps patch/restoration project, you'll need to copy over any settings in ddraw.ini provided by killap to the new version of sfall ddraw.ini.

There is a quick solution that works for all Windows 7 64 bit users.

You have to copy ddraw.dll file from Fallout 1 directory (assuming you have F1 installed) to Fallout 2 folder. If you don't have Fallout 1 i can send you the file.
If you could send me that file, I'd be very grateful. My email is th_baltzer@yahoo.com
thanks, seriously.
For everyone who may still be having trouble with color problems or display problems with black screens, etc., check out this link. Randomnly found it in a topic on gamefaqs and it helped fix any display issues for me. If it doesn't work the first time then restart your computer and try again, it worked for me when the tool randomnly didn't work sometimes (probably just my computer). Hope this helps.

Thanks Summit. That solved my color problem exactly. GOG.com should include that ddraw.dll file in F2.

I was told that this file is responsible for engine tweaks and was not included in vanilla Fallout. It seams that gog team has made some modifications on F1 engine but left F2 untouched. Ergo, no such file in Fallout 2. It seems that sfall adds this file though.
