I just bought Fallout and I'm currently playing it via Parallels / Windows 7 in OS X. It starts off in a windowed mode, but I can switch it to fullscreen and get the original res in a small box surrounded by lots of black screen.

I read some forums and download the high res pack, but all that does it add more screen real estate, but now the frame rate chugs and the text and characters are still small. So it's not really helping me any.

What I'd like is be able to stretch out the original res to fit the screen. Similar to how Diablo II and Starcraft run. I don't care about getting block sprites.

On a PC, you'd fix this in your grpahics card options, under "flat panel scaling" or similar. But I don't know how this would work with Parallels. Do you have graphics options under Windows 7 when using Parallels? If so, look for scaling options and play with those.

I would assume I have access to that. When using Parallels or Bootcamp you have full access Win 7, just like you would on a PC.

Any idea where this option is located? I assume it's hidden somewhere in Control Panel, but that thing is such a cluster I can never find what I need.
The easiest way to find it is to just right-click the desktop, and then go to properties. This should get you display properties.

Now, on a PC, if you have an Nvidia or ATI graphics card, usually there is a SEPARATE option when you right-click the desktop that will take you to the control panel for your graphics card. That is where one would set scaling options. I do not know whether something like that will show up under Parallels, because I don't know what kind of hardware you're using. Do you have a dedicated graphics card? If not, then you'll have to look under the standard windows options I think. I'm not sure where exactly scaling options would be but if there's anything related to 3D graphics look there.

EDIT: I should add that this option is typically a global one that will affect all games that you play. You mentioned that Starcraft and Diablo II seem to run OK for you... what resolution are they set at? Is it smaller than your screen resolution? If they are running at lower resolutions but are stretching to fill your screen, then this solution may not work. but it's worth checking out anyway.
