Hi y'all, newbie Fallout player here again. So, I'm in Vault 15, have used one rope and descended to the second level, I have another rope, but whenever I try to use it on the elevator it just says "That does nothing." I've tried standing everywhere in the elevator I can, facing different directions, but no joy.

How curious. I'm not used to it being any trouble, and I've never heard of this being caused by either installing or failing to install a patch.
I assume you've tried clicking more than one place? Or using the click-hold method to use it from inventory by that means? That's usually the message it'll give if you've tried to use it in the wrong place.
