I just realized I still have my old (pre-re-release) versions of FO 1, 2 & Tactics.
Using them I should be able to get a list of any modified file between these releases and the new ones, so we’ll soon definitely know if we still can play "vanilla" Fallout from the new GOG versions ;)

EDIT: Didn’t notice it before, but there’s already a sfall-readme.txt file in the "old" release of Fallout 2. Now it’s time to dig up for a CD version to have a definitive answer about all this…

Just finished Fallout 1 for the first time after 3 tries in 15 years. GOG version on Win 7. It was a delightfull experience without a single technical issue.

PS : Well actually there have been one issue, but very minor and just because I tried a very borderline exploit. Nothing I would call a compatibility/technical issue in fact.

Projectsonic: If you're having problems with FO2 try using the unofficial patch. For some reason it fixes problems of it not running for when I had it with the new version. I'm not sure what Bethesda broke, but it must've been either minor or pre-existing.
I usually roll with the unofficial patches, same issue I'm afraid. Maybe I'm just unlucky or am saving my games wrong. And the crashes almost always exclusively happen in Combat.

Again, it's really just FO2, FO1 has always been stable for me.
