Hey all, im having issues with my Fallout, it plays and all, but at the character creation screen all the images are choppy in a way.
To describe it better imagine a zebra, now imagine all the text and character portrait seeming to either be missing stripes through it or just being pressed up real tight against eachother. I would submit a picture but my camera is broken. I have all the system reqs. and above so I should be able to play this fine, as I can play Diablo 2 perfect on my computer.

You could just hit print screen on your keyboard. But yeah, that happens to me a lot too on old games like Starcraft and Fallout and it's usually some background application I left running.
Actually your problem sounds a bit different because all I get is weird colors and it goes away if I alt+tab.
Possibly video card driver compatibility, but it could be something else entirely...

Go to DXDIAG and turn you hardware accelration to the left one notch and your sound a couple notches to the left and then got to your NVIdia/ATI Control Panel and switch off vsync and all the other options. At each step above try the game again to see if it's fixed and if fixed don;t bother with the options above you have yet to do.
I have a similar issue on Vista x64 where videos and certain elements some times appear messed up. I haven't tried it, But following UK_John's suggestion of playing with acceleration settings usually works. Though, To be honest, I figured that "All Games are Compatible with VistaXP" covers this, too.
I had this in starcraft, all you have to do is to turn off a process called dwm.exe. It will automatically restart once just make sure you stop the process a second time. dwm.exe is a process that makes the windows in vista transparent and it also allow some other cosmetic features. Just turn it off while playing if you ant and then just run it again when you are done. Personally I just turned it off for good and I have it not start when vista starts up, because it takes alot of processing power.
Is this Fallout 1 or 2?
wait mine does the same thing, I thought it was a feature.
