From what little research I have done so far it looks like the Fallout 4 Creation Kit requires a Bethesda login, although I seem to recall that there is a DRM free version of the Creation Kit available for Skyrim. Is this the case or no?

Also so cool to see this here and way, WAY sooner than I dared dream. Still waiting for Klingon Academy though.

Thanks

LC
Checking with the Creation Kit available on Steam, there was no need to log in to a Bethesda account. You may be seeing outdated information, as the creation kits did all used to be available only through Bethesda's store, but they closed their own store and moved them over to other services. You should be able to download, install, and use just fine from GOG's store.

Where is the Creation Kit available on GOG? I could not find it.
I couldn't say for sure. I already have Fallout 4 on Steam, so not going to get it here. But generally if you look at the game page for a game you've bought, there are other downloads listed there. It may be listed as a Fallout 4 extra.

It is not there. I also own Steam-connected Fallout 4, but I would really like a DRM-free Creation Kit to go long with my DRM-free copy of FO4.
Right from the start GOG has mentioned in a few areas, including the main GOG Fallout 4 page, that the creation kit will not be available in the GOG version. However, that did not stop the community from providing a workaround for Skyrim. I am waiting on that before I purchase here. Still, very encouraging that it was released at all.

They said that Creation CLUB will not be available. That is not the same as Creation KIT.
Here not good news about Creation Kit on GOG...:

"Can I get the Creation Kit from GOG?
No. At present, the Creation Kit is only available on Steam. Bethesda has confirmed the GOG version is not compatible with the Steam Creation Kit but all mods created using the Creation Kit will work with any PC edition of the game. "

Of course. Only Bethesda would insist on DRMing the friggin editor. No one else does this Bethesda, why you gotta be like this????

It should be as easy as downloading it like it is for every other editor that I can think of.

This is unfortunate, but I figured this was the case and am not the least bit surprised. I'm not especially interested in future Bethesda titles until they knock off this crap.
Never mind. Read the topic title wrong :(

So looked up to be sure of something, and turns out, Creation Kit can be downloaded from Steam and used with an PC version of Fallout 4. Supposedly can even be used with the Xbox version. It might even run without steam, I haven't tested that.

Hi. Maybe late but I tried this. I downloaded Creation Kit from Steam. Copy-pasted it into Fallout 4 folder and then used Goldberg Emulator on it. It worked.

Better late then never I guess! But yeah that sounds like a good idea. I'll try that thanks. If someone didn't have a steam copy as well would they be able to do this?

For anyone reading the in the future yes you can download the creation kit from steam without owning fallout 4 on steam. All I did was copy the creation kit files into my game directory and run it through a steam emulator

Awesome! Thanks for the info. Perhaps that's why they don't bother providing a separate download. It would be nice though.
