I tired everything, running as admin, uninstalling and reinstalling but nothing seems to be working.I was recording just fine a few days ago but now its not responding to dxtory.
Have you switched Fallout 2's rendering mode to DirectX? Fallout 2 uses DDraw by default. You'll want to edit the ddraw.ini. Open the game's directory and look for the ddraw configuration file. Open that file in notepad and scroll until you see the Graphics heading. Change the line "Mode=0" to "Mode=4" and save the changes.
wow that worked.

Blaze3: wow that worked.
Glad it worked for you. :)
I got it to play but it s slow even when it is not recording and hotkeys work once so I can't stop it from recording.

sidenote: I went to the dxtory forums figure out it has to be the game. Also I installed the high res patch still doesn't work.

It's so weird that it fails to work after a few days, but you don't need to worry about that, there are many Dxtory alternatives available for recording, the one that I often use is this free screen recorder (http://www.apowersoft.com/free-online-screen-recorder), it's simple to use and can record screen with audio in high quality. Maybe you can give it a try!
