Another guy with the problem how to run Fallout. :-)
My problem(s) is (are).
When i try to start the Fallout i get the message "Error initializing video mode 640x 480".
Ok I have read the forum for solutions.
I delated (rename) ddraw.dll .... Fallout starts then by the end the intro movie crashes in odd colors (like the old EGA)
I tryed different compability settings te result is the same as above.
I tryed with installing The Ultimate Version of Fallout by Paul-cz (patches and mods)
1) Install Fallout 1 from GOG.com
2) Find and install "Fallout_1_TeamX_Patch_ENG_1.2w" (either via nma or just google)
3) Install "f1child_patch" (again, nma)
4) Install "fallup13" - this is the TeamX patch 1.3.4 (nma)
5) Install "f1npcmod" from TeamX (again, nma)
6) Install "sfall1" (from http://timeslip.chorrol.com/sfall.html)
7) Install "Fallout1_High_Resolution_Patch_v1.3" (nma)
8) Open f1_res and set AUTO_SCRN_SIZE = 0, then your desired resolution (I use 800*600, anything above is just too darn small for my taste), then if you want, change the way ingame movies work, either fullscreen or not....up to you.Same with movie subtitles
The result is the same intro movie is normal, then right before the game screne,crashes in the odd colors.
As for Fallout2 intro movie play normal the the game crashes in the odd colors.
What to do?

Have you tried running the game in 256 color mode in the compatibility menu???
You need to run the game with Visual Themes disabled, Disable scaling for high DPI settings and try running it in Win98 compatibility mode.

Yes i have tried everything from compatibility menu . Nothing works.

make sure you disable security software before running, that you're running as administrator, etc..

Problem solved.
I had in display setting in troubleshot window, Hardware acceleration set to none.
So DDraw acceleration disabled, D3D acceleration disabled,AGP acceleration disabled.
So when I set Hardware acceleration to full, game run Normal.

So I've been looking everywhere for these mods. I can't find f1child, f1npcmod, or the hi res patch anywhere. Where are they?
