Just got a new Dell Venue 8 pro tablet, and I've been trying to install Fallout 2 on it. Installation went through fine, but when I try to open the game, it gives me the error "failure initializing input devices."

I assume this has something to do with the fact that I'm running it without a mouse? I've tried compatibility mode, different resolutions, etc., still get that error.

I'd appreciate any advice! :)

Yep, it's a known issue for Fallout not starting properly on tablets. Once you connect a real mouse it should start as expected.

Also make sure all older components from DirectX 9 are installed:

If you don't have a mouse, you can also try this:
- Open ddraw.ini in your game's folder with a text editor
- Change the values for BackgroundKeyboard and BackgroundMouse from 0 to 1, like this

BackgroundKeyboard=1
BackgroundMouse=1

- Save and restart the game

Btw, if you are starting a new game, you might want to install Killap's Unofficial Patch first or Killap's Restoration Project (which adds some content that was originally planned but finally not included into the retail version). But don't install both! If you install them later, you'll have to start anew as older savegames won't work anymore.

Unfortunately don't have a bluetooth mouse to use with this, but I'll definitely try the second bit. Thanks for the help!
Installing Killap's unofficial patch fixed it! Thanks!
