I've finished all the quests in The Den but when I went to leave I saw that the next placed listed to visit was Vault City. I thought I remembered that there was supposed to be another city before that so I Googled a walkthrough and found it showed Modoc should be my destination. What NPC should have made Modoc show up on my map?

If I remember right Modoc is more or less right on the road between Den and VC so you stumble upon it on your own.

It is not mandatory to follow any order, it is not mandatory to get places put on map before you go there. You can, even are supposed to, freely roam the country and just discover things. There are one or two locations you can't find without hint though.

That's what I thought I remembered, too. It's just been a while since I played FO2 and I wanted to be sure I wasn't missing anything. I knew I was supposed to go to Klamath then the Den but wasn't sure if there was a particular place to go from there. Like I said it's been a while since I last played FO2.
