I tried playing fallout 1 before two other times, I hated it thought it had clunky cheesy game fighting in the first rat cave. Either getting my butt kicked by rats or soon as i leave the cave by rad scorpions. I was such a fan of Fallout 3 and a turn based game like dragon age so I was determine to like it. A year later I came back to it after watching a walk through and I was addicted to it like video game crack. I didn't even know you can zoom in through the limbs like part 3 and reload quickly till halfway through the game. The characters were awesome and the ending was epic. Cant wait to play part 2.
Yeah, it took me about 1-2 tries before it really grabbed me. Heck, I didn't fully realize what a great game it was until after I had beaten it once and had started a new game.

Its really not very impressive right off the bat, in fact, it can be a little frustrating because its so hard to hit at first. But once you get a few skills up there, hours of gameplay can go by without even realizing it.

If you didn't like rat cave i'm pretty sure you're gonna hate the temple of trials from F2.

As much as I love Fallout, I feel the same way...Rats & Trials are a very slow start to the game(s) and don't really do anything to make the player believe how much better the game gets in just a few short levels.
The same thing happened with me, I couldn't get the hang of it at first, but after a while I watched a "Let's Play Fallout" series for a couple episodes. So I gave it another try and finally got used to how the game is played. Now it's one of my all-time favorite RPGs
It is quite ridiculous that two games that are probably two best RPG ever made have both such a shitty beginnings : )

But once you get through it..awesomeness.

I'm skipping FO1 because of all the bugs, and the Temple of Trials in FO2 isn't so bad. Hell, I'm halfway done with the game and the spear is still my primary melee weapon LOL
