If I had known what kind of game Fallout was, I would've played it when it first came out back in 1997. Ironically what got me interested in the Fallout series was all the publicity that the latest addition, Fallout 3, was getting. Unfortunately, since my computer can't run that game I decided to start at the beginning with a game that I know I can run with ease.
This game is the earliest example where the player can be good or bad. Each action that you perform can reward you later, or bite you in the ass. And because of that type of gameplay, you can play this game hundreds of times without playing the same way twice, Add the fact that you can customize just about every aspect of your character, and the replay value increases exponentially. Fallout is a must have for gamers.
