Did a fresh install of Fallout 4 GOTY on GOG, then London per GOG's instructions, since they claim it runs natively, figured that would give me the least issues, and I wouldn't have to mess with the convoluted Steam install. Worked great, even got past the train without issue. Now I'm stuck at the first conversation off the train. As soon as it goes into dialog mode, I get a big white rectangle overlay that pops up and reads:

F4SW Status: FAIL
F4SE is not running.
Make sure that F4SE is installed and you have launched the game with

I assume there is supposed to be more text after that, but it ends there and there is no way to advance it or clear the window besides exiting the game or reloading the last save.

the dialog scene is still happening behind the white text block, but there are no dialog options, so it's just stuck in a loop of "not talking...? and my character staring back blankly for a few seconds till "not talking...?" repeats.. which is kind of an amusing thing to glitch on, but it would be nice if I could continue on with the game too.

Maybe this is just an extension of the Train crash everyone else seems to be having, but since it had an actual error message that I haven't seen anywhere else, figured I'd start a new topic...

[edit]I I've also tried turning my graphics settings down as mentioned in other threads. Anything below "ultra" and it crashes to desktop just as the first conversation starts. Set to "ultra" and I make it all the way through the convo to the point where I need to reply and I get the F4SE error mentioned above. Yeah. That makes no sense at all.

Any ideas what's causing this, and/or how to get past it?

There's a post that says make sure you launch using Fallout London, not Fallout 4 GOTY. That got me past that hiccup, so might be worth a try, hope it helps out! (Although it CTD about a couple minutes after so I think we're just in the early pains phase

Happened to me just now after getting the game to work again.

Couple more quicksteps for those who may, or may not, come up with an F4SE error when you finally get into a game:

1. Download the LATEST version of F4SE either through the official website or through Nexus. (yes the latest one)
2. Drag & drop it into your main Fallout 4 installation folder.
3. As this is the latest version that's now obsolete by the latest patch you will need to use the FOLON launcher for this, click on it, click on update, and reinstall the mod.
4. Let it install which will take 2-8 minutes depending on your machine but this ALSO downgrades your version of F4SE to a previous version allowing conversations to take place.
5. Boot up the game as normal though you may have to check your video settings again as it will revert them to the lowest quality.
6. Enjoy having Fallout 3 and New Vegas style talking choices from now on.

Yeah I just saw that one. I started from a fresh install of both in GOG Galaxy, followed their instructions exactly. Pressing play on the Fallout: London card does nothing at all for me, I cannot start the game from there. The only place it runs from is the Fallout 4: GOTY page. Plays fine from there till I get to the problem in my original post.

First time poster here, sharing some help as I encountered this issue and have a bit of modding experience with Fallout4. The "fix" is, thankfully, very simple.

Launch the game from "f4se_loader.exe" in the folder where the mod is installed.
For me that folder path looks like "C:\GOG Games\Fallout 4 GOTY\f4se_loader.exe", but the beginning of that path might look a little different depending on install destination you've went with. Just double click that file and the game will launch with the required script extender and operate correctly.

I suspect this will be an early patch item if the mod team performs any post launch updates (updating the shortcut in GoG-Galaxy that ultimately starts the game). Until then just right click>send to desktop to have a quick short cut to launch it easily.

This seems to have fixed things (at least for now...)
Thanks for the info!
Yeah, Naquada had it right, I must have missed a step they described (I'm an idiot sometimes, apologies >.> ) Glad you were able to get it working though!
