Differences from playing both of them.
FH - Fallen Haven
LD - Fallen Haven Liberation Day
1. Buildings
FH - Every map owned you can build structures in. Some structures have limits like only 10 resource and research buildings max per map. Resources come from income buildings.
LD - Seems you only have one base that you build up. Resources are only collected by finishing maps.
2. Units
FH - Units are trained/created from the appropriate structures eg: infantry from barrack. It takes a turn to complete and must be deployed out of the building to be used. Units can be placed manually around the map but to move from one map to another they must be placed into dropships and launched. Units also keep damage from battle to battle.
LD - Units are temporary and are summoned/created each battle then disappear again. Each unit has a different cost and you have a max total, any unspent go into a pool for reinforcements or automated units which is to parachute in units. The pool also increases but I'm not sure what does increase it. The unit selection is bigger than in FH as it combines the neutral enemy from FH with the humans and adds some new units like sea units.
3. Campaign
FH - Can play one of two races in two different game modes. Mode 1 is each side only owns a single place and main goal is to destroy the opposing starting HQ. Mode 2 the enemy starts with all places owned and you only have one place (more challenge).
LD - Seems your stuck with humans.
4. Maps
FH - Each map is mainly the same goal just destroy all enemy units and turrets and you then take control of the place. Very few maps have a specific win condition. There is no turn limit. Failing a map any damage done and units killed remain that way but the enemy will repair/rebuild and restock units in time.
LD - Each map has a specific win condition, failing the map just resets it as if nothing happened. Each map has a turn limit.
5. Research
FH - Research points are gained from structures and you can allocate percentage into different tech fields.
LD - Can only gain points through keeping a unit next to a special structure before completing a map. Each unit type is individually levelled up.
6 Graphics
It is my opinion that the units seem to be better quality in FH compared to LD which is much more pixelated. The landscapes though look better quality in LD.
7. Overwatch
FH - Units will return fire only after an enemy shoots, all units within in range and line of sight that have enough Action Points will shoot once at the shooter.
LD - Moving within range of an enemy they will shoot with all their Action Points before you have a chance to shoot. This means sacrificing a lot of units so you can actually do damage or just play defensive and let the enemy come to you if you have enough turn limit left.
An issue I have with LD is that it does away with the light or heavy attacks, units only have one attack. LD also has no reserve action points for overwatch and it doesn't inform you how many action points are needed to fire.
