Whenever i want to start Fallen Enchantress the loading screen appears and after a short delay the game exits to desktop without any further notification. FELH on the other hand seems to work fine though...

Windows troubleshooter suggests that i dont have the right Direct X 9.0c version ( i got the latest). I tried all stuff i found on forums to get it going but i still fail to start the game and thinking about refunding it :(

Im running Windows10, Ryzen5, integrated AMD Radeon RX Vega 8 Graphics.

Maybe some can help. Thx!

In FELH there is a debug log written somewhere in the user directory. It may contain some information about this. Dont know if FE also writes such a log. And it may be necessary to enable it first or sth - dont remember.

Did you ever figure out the issue?

Just built a new Ryzen 3 3200G with the Vega 8, and same thing happening. First game I've installed and FE crashes shortly after the loading splash.

As best I can tell, drviers are all current.

I can start the game by renaming SDNXLOverlay.dll in the game directory to something else.

This worked for me. To be specific, the SDNXLOverlay.dll must be changed to SDNXLOverlay.OLD for this to work. One user over on the Stardock forums said it affected the fonts slightly. Not sure why something like that would impact the game so much, but my game is launching now. If it's stupid but it works...

On a side note, I should have checked here first before reinstalling the game 3 times...

Changing the file name as mentioned by Kurful solved my problem, as I also had this issue. Thank you.
