if anyone downloaded the bonus soundtrack, can you tell me if it's in high quality? Because both in-game and the bootleg copies circulating on the Internet are pretty poor.

It's 320kbps CBR. Very high quality.

I thought the exact opposite. Sure, the game music is 320 kbps CBR, but it sounds a lot worse to me. Maybe the source was something completely different than good quality uncompressed audio. Also the licensed music tracks are ~170 kbps VBR.

The game on the other hand is pure golden. I had been waiting for quite some time for this to appear on GOG.

OK, so I bought the GOG version of the game and I'm still very disappointed with the music quality.

I can't believe there isn't an uncompressed version of the soundtrack. The problem is not the bitrate of the files themselves (the GOG bonus version is 320kbps per track, which is in itself pretty good), but the source material that was heavily and horribly compressed, and for a classical composition we all know that the effects are devastating to the quality.

Just listen to the "Main Title" and you'll know what I mean.

Unfortunately I have to agree. Sound quality is really disappointing for me. Not that I'm complaining to GOG. It's a free bonus after all. Just remember not to listen to it on anything with better than laptop/smartphone/PSP/etc. speakers. ;]

I concur on that, bitrate is not corresponding to the actual quality.

I think this is the best we can get for this game. Similar thing happened to Silent Hill 2 - Akira Yamaoka used some low-quality samples in the score and it sounds bad even if you listen to officially released CD.

Songs, that come with OST (for example Santa Monica) are in very bad quality - 162kbps(

If anybody finds a higher-quality version, you can let GOG Support know.
