abbayarra: Gog.com is less than 2% of their sales of Factorio. All we have to do is get more people to buy from here instead of other awful choices and developers will focus more on gog.com. Their achievements are mostly in game btw.
Killbot298: Probably because it seems to be significantly more expensive on GoG than everywhere else. I want the DRM free version, but the developer seems to favour Steam.
I also heard that to get developers to sell on gog.com they had to drop their percentage. GOG.com finally made a profit this first quarter.
Developers want that 95 percent so they sell on steam. To sell on GOG.com they have to strip out the steam which means more work for a very small percentage of sales. Plus there will be no drm to prevent the casual pirate from stealing the game.
GOG has been very slowly increasing sales. To really increase sales they have to get galaxy working as well as Steam's service, offer a place for mods, and offer all this at a lower price than steam. They also need to do exclusives on the most popular games.
They really need a benefactors who is willing to eat a loss for like 10 years as GOG builds up a presence. This is used by a lot of really big retailers to get into new markets, just like what epic is doing.
