I have super weird problems with (any) joystick - lately testing with a simple TM16000

Regardless of what I enable in the config tool, the stick wont work properly for roll and pitch.

Buttons: work
Yaw (rudder with stick's twist axis) works!
Pitch Roll (stick X and Y axis) nothing.

Removing the dinput.dll will render the config tool useless in terms of control options, as they all become greyed out then.

Any clues?

I've also had problems with my old Thrustmaster Flight Stick X. The game won't respond to it at all. Then I noticed that my Xbox controller was also paired with the PC and it was interfering with the game.

I'm not sure if it's the same case or not, but I thought you could give it a try (although it's been a while ago since you posted...).
Has anyone got the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro to work with this? I wish this game had in game configuration, but this was a little before that became the standard.

I just want to do some flying until I can get a machine that will run DCS.

Well, I'm on Windows 11, and my Logitech Extreme 3D Pro works for the most part. The X Y axes work fine, the Z axis for rudder works, the Hat switch seems to work for shifting the cockpit view, but I cannot seem to get the slider for throttle to work at all.
I did some further tests..

Interestingly, the update to Win 11 did not change anything for me - with the Thrustmaster!
But:
My XBOX One Controller does work! Roll and Pitch. Throttle Axis no chance.

Seems to be somehow connected to the specific stick / controller you use.
Try to remove or rename the dinput.dll in the game folder
In my case it is working on all axes with MS FF 2 stick
