Updated patch to V1A changed dosbox SVN (unstable) to the much more stable Dosbox Daum if you wish to use my patch vs gog's or just to update Dosbox feel free to PM me.

Did exactly as it says in the instructions but I can`t find out how to update.

All goes well until I`m supposed to write "update.exe" but then I get the "illegal command" message.
Even when going directly into the F-117A dir and then typing "update.exe" I get bthe same
message.

What am I doing wrong here?

okay,

1) are you doing it in Dosbox? if you arent doing it in dosbox you are going to have issues as modern OS' cannot run 16-bit dos programs.

2) the zip could be damaged. try redownloading.

those are the only two things I can think of right now, sorry for the late reply.

I did it in Dosbox. I `ll try to download the patch once more and see if that solves it.

Update: Downloaded the patch again but the issue is the same as before. Tried to put the update.exe over
a dosbox shortcut on the desktop but I just get "invalid drive and/or directory specified"

Dont do that, as you have to point the updater in the direction of F-117A. it does NOT find F-117A on its own.

Edit: I have made a video that I have made available in the OP to see how to install the patch.

I have updated it to V1A
I just changed the DOSBOX SVN from a SVN to a much more stable Daum build.
