I'm asking here because I couldn't find anything about it in the manual.
So far I've played more than 25 missions over Libya but they keep sending me back, do I have to destroy something particular for it to end (yes, war weariness has set in).

As far I remember after some number of missions you flown or after you reach some promotion you will be retired.

So yes, it has end.
