Hey guys,

I'm new to the community. I've been buying games from GOG for a while now. I've been wondering when is GOG team going to add the linux version of this game. It's been out on digital distributions like Humble Bundle (store) and Steam, and of course I've noticed this "trend" that some games (like Trine) are lacking their linux package counterpart.

My apologies in advance if this isn't the place, any directions would be nice for a general answer of this question. I don't want to end up buying two copies of the game because GOG is taking forever :/

Cheers

I'd advice you to contact support. Devs should send GOG the files when available but unfortunately often they 'forget'. Contacting support makes GOG staff aware of situation hopefully fix situation with the developer. You could also contact developer directly and ask them about it.

Hi,

i contacted the devolpers and there is no hope for the linux port on gog. Here is the mail:

Sorry for the delayed response, we're quite busy in the office lately .

There won't be a linux version on GOG and it's because GOG has some
specifications which are different than Steam version. So we can't just
upload the Steam linux build to GOG. And unfortunately we don't have time
or resources to build a new linux version. Basically this is the only
reason we don't have a linux build on GOG.

Best Regards,
Ali
Very very sad about the way.....do not buy again from this devs!!!
This is very bad.
I wonder what those "specifications" are.

Oh well, I'll keep it on my wishlist if it ever arrives here.

That's odd, because Desura have a standalone DRM-free version without Steam. Why can GOG not use the same version as Desura?

Good question. I feel developers like this are just lazy/apathetic and don't really care about the big picture. This makes them look bad.
Perhaps Valve provide additional support for packaging the Steam version in order to promote SteamOS? Still odd, as packaging a GOG version should, if anything, be less complicated due to absent DRM.

The exact same thing happened to The Banner Saga btw: no Linux version for GOG, despite a perfectly fine build available on Steam.

Bottom line is, we shouldn't buy a game expecting a Linux version unless it is actually available. :(
