Thanks for letting us know of the update.

I downloaded the update, but it still says 1.4.5. Is this the correct version number? Thanks in advance.

I was able to download and run the update successfully. When I start the game, the version number in the bottom right corner is 1.5.0.

No, that's the wrong version number.

Here's the best way to check if you have the proper update:

See if you can select German as one of the languages to play the game in.

Not sure, but you could try re-installing it.

The 1.5.0 update can be gotten by running patch_expeditions_conquistador_2.2.1.13.exe (yes, I know about our version numbering :) ). Do you have the aforementioned file?

I don't see German under language. I see Deutsche, English, Italian and Spanish....

J/K :).

I thought the patch would auto install itself, but it didn't. I had to go to the folder where I install my GoG games and run the exe from there.

Thanks for the help.
FYI, "Deutsche" IS "German"

I purchased this game in January and it was still version 1.4.5. Only a few days ago this 1.5.0 update came in. That patch was made by the developers in July 2013.
On the other hand, for AoW III an update was announced yesterday, and the download on GOG was available in an instant.
Why does a patch through GOG sometimes take 9 months, and sometimes 9 minutes?

It came in on October 10 of last year, not a few days ago :)

I am not sure what gave you the impression that it just recently arrived but I'd love to hear what it was :)
The version number appears in the right hand corner of the game. I bought and installed E:C from you in January, it was version 1.4.5 then.
I even reported a bug to the developers and they answered that bug had been fixed in 1.5.0, but that I probably wouldn't have that version if I was playing from Desura (they knew Desura still had an unupdated version).
I kept my eye on updates from GOG recently, since I was expecting AoW III to come in, I would have noticed if there had been an update for E:C. An update for E:C eventually came in after I was already playing AoW III. I downloaded it and checked the version number; it was 1.5.0. The developers have already made 1.6.5 by now, but I'm not sure if they've passed it on to you yet.

Of course I can only tell what I saw on my own account, I only checked the version numbers in-game just before and after I installed the update. I had become curious after that strange Desura remark from one of the developers, so I did have a good look at the numbers.

If my account is the only one where the patch arrived with a delay than I'm not worried. It's the developer's interest I'm thinking about. I wouldn't like to see smaller game companies getting a worse deal than the big ones. E:C and AoW III are the only new games in my account, and I was a bit perplexed when I got that update for AoW III in so quick, after noticing what had happened with E:C.

We haven't gotten version 1.6.5 just yet. I am certain that we will get it soon :)

1.5.0 was delayed for a while but that was across all distributors due to some bugs that needed to be fixed, I think it was something to do with the German translation and such. I will note that we certainly did not have a 9+ month delay on 1.5.0 :)
