Romanes Eunt Domus? Not this time...

https://www.gematsu.com/2021/04/expeditions-rome-announced-for-pc

Might come this year.
Better hurry up and finish Age of Decadence before release.

Explore a beautifully realized, colorful world across many different environments, including North Africa, Greece, Gaul, and Rome herself.

So Expeditions becomes a proper series! :)
I'm already looking forward to this, I've played the two previous 'Expeditions' titles and really enjoyed them so hopefully this one will follow the trend.

This one sounds like it might be their best one yet - assuming they can make all the systems work together properly and more importantly, actually be meaningful.

Their first game did this quite well I thought - the camping part remained challenging till the end since there was always a min 5% chance someone would sneak past your guards and make off with some loot, and the combat while small-scale was challenging enough (more so if you didn't build for tactics).

IMO while the second game improved graphically, the various game systems weren't anywhere near as good, especially camping: from the get go it was almost guaranteed to be safe, and getting enough food never really seemed challenging (unlike in Conquistadors, where you could easily get screwed if not careful). The fact that your PC actually had a proper presence in battle was an improvement, but combat was overall much easier, and more importantly they added a stupid amount of abilities for little gain (I preferred Conquistador's - very few/limited skills, but combat felt more challenging/rewarding. Also setting traps had to be done before combat, and not during which felt a bit strange).

Hopefully they get the strategic/combat bits right. Conquistador already did a reasonable job, in some parts, of making you feel like your squad(s) were part of a much larger force, so hopefully this will be even better since we're supposed to be in charge of a legion. Hopefully that means many more strategic decisions about the legion as a whole, including neighboring maniples and the like.

Most importantly, I really hope they do away with the ridiculous "loot every inch of the town for random crafting components plus the occasional decent weapon which you'll otherwise miss if you don't autistically search everything).

Definitely looking forward to this.
