I've reached the fishing village and the chief has offered me his daughter for marriage, I'm presuming as a formality? Does this lock me out of any other romance option?

There is another romance option later in the game, and no, this marriage does not lock you out. You get a helpful camp follower gratis. :)

Hickory: There is another romance option later in the game, and no, this marriage does not lock you out. You get a helpful camp follower gratis. :)

Note that engaging in romance while already married to someone else can have some consequences though... as you'd expect... ;)
