HypersomniacLive: In case it's not clear, neither I nor DeMignon are affiliated with the devs, we're just regular GOG users who post changelogs as they become available on GOG.
jiggypig: Sorry didn't mean to point the arrow at you, as it is clear that you are not marked as dev.
And I know it is old news, but I was enjoying the game and stumble upon this brohoha ... which is sad when a developer become so possessive of their game that they cannot fathom the possibility of a segment of their customer not enarmored with one of their design decision ... btw it is one which is not tied to any specific quest and appears to be simply a true/false switch upon hitting a certain criteria (i.e. the deadline) and is thus easily switched off without affecting any quest line or other things.
Instead they have to resort to the heavy handed antics of disabling the negative input for advancetime console command AND deactivating the entire time bar.
I teaches design, granted in product instead of software, but such huge ego, lack of emphaty and inability to accomodate the need and preferences of the users when it is so obvious and easily done ... always bode ill for a design house.
Considering it's incredibly easy to get maxed out levels of both power and wealth while simply just doing all the quests, and this is easily achievable even if you loot every monastery, solve both of your companion's quests, and find out what happened to your father - I really don't see the problem. It makes perfect thematic sense to have a time limit - and the time limit is very generous.
The only way I can see someone running out of time is if they stopped to take over every single campsite in addition to the above - and even then I bet it's still achievable.
I'm actually glad that for once, the "big bad thing" that's coming is actually coming for real - as opposed to most other games where the world waits around until you decide when to initiate the finale.
Have you actually tried to play it the way it is? If you haven't, I recommend giving that a go - you'll likely laugh at how generous the time "limit" actually is. I didn't feel "rushed" at all at any point.
