emiliokille: Exanima isn't a game, it's a DEMO ! Exanima is just a "thing" to give some bread to dogs before the REAL game = SUI GENERIS !

so please GOG ! don't let come early-access here like Steam to pollute.

Exanima is a piece of SUI GENERIS ... a piece to sell !

STOP ABUSIVE EARLY ACCESS .

i repeat for all : EXANIMA ISN'T A GAME, THIS IS A TECHNICAL DEMONSTRATION of PHYSIC ENGINE from SUI GENERIS ... a game how, mayby, will be released or not.

Thanks.
It seems that you're not very comfortable in general with purchasing games that are in-development. I understand that it's a pretty risky gamble, so I'd suggesting that you wait until the game is fully released.

It is not a demo. Exanima was created in order to be a platform for testing all the features that will be in SG, but it is a "real game". It's much more than just a simple technical demonstration, they're creating an entire dungeon with extensive lore, along with a fully fleshed out arena mode. The developers simply did not want to spoil the entirety of SG while it was being tested. Progress on Exanima is also progress on SG.

This "demo" currently offers more content and substance than full priced $60 games. The developers are not abusing the early access system, to accuse the developers of such things is very insulting and immature of you. GOG saw that this game is being developed at a steady pace and will not be abandoned so they brought it to this site.

Sui Generis will be released, it may take a while but the devs have literally nothing to gain by abandoning ship, they have dedicated their entire lives to developing this game.
ok ok

What nonsense is this? Dozens of people have already spent hundreds of hours in Exanima even though it's incomplete. Exanima is a hell of a lot more than a tech demo and the amount of gameplay available in the 3 game modes currently available makes Exanima a bargain. There's currently 5/14 levels in the story mode, a practice arena and an arena mode with progression. A tech demo is not a fleshed-out game like Exanima is.

When Exanima is completed it'll be a game which offers 50+ hours of gameplay easily which is a great bargain at $15. It'll include 14 large levels with events that play out differently based upon where you go and what you do. It'll have dialogue, NPC interactions, ranged combat, thaumaturgy (magic), outdoor and indoor arenas, 50+ trainable skills which will allow great diversity in playstyles, co-op and PvP multiplayer, etc. These are features of a fleshed-out game, not a tech demo (tech demos don't offer gameplay, they demonstrate new technology).

Did you complain about CDPR releasing The Witcher 2 and claim that The Witcher 2 was only a tech demo since it was a 40 hour game and a prequel to The Witcher 3? That's basically what Exanima is to Sui Generis....

Yeah, look all those hundreds of idiot players enjoying and loving the GAME with dozens to hundreds of hours, they just don't get how bad it is poor sods. Just because you don't have the capacity or have spent the time to appreciate anything that is currently in the game does not mean it isn't there. Plenty of people who genuinely love it, they shouldn't because of a raving guy screaming and refusing to listen to facts ? Don't think so ;d

Why is it so hard to understand the comparison Tony made between Witcher and Exanima/SG ? Same comparison can be made with many other games. One is a sequel of the other using most of the same assets and mechanics but with different world and story and improvements.

Are you saying you refunded the game several times and you didn't even try story mode until the third ? What a joke ;d Try using some more reasoned arguments instead of screaming "liar' at everything people write. People wrote decent and reasoned responses to your insane ravings and it clearly didn't work, more ravings followed.

Learn what a TECH demo is. Exanima is clearly a game, with a good deal of content at that and much more is on the way with the devs working as hard as they can every single day. It costs only 15$ which is very, very cheap price for what it is and what it is going to be when finished. You clearly have issues with early access and games in development, maybe it is a good idea to stay away from it and don't meddle in the choice of people who decide to take part in those programs.

It was never a secret what Exanima is and what SG is and how they relate to each other. So you are not bringing some big secret to anyone.

What is really the problem ? Amazing game for 15$, but it is not amazing because you say so right ? ;d How many hours of play time do you have in the game anyway ?
sorry

Yep, let's compare Witcher 2 and 3 to Exanima and SG, shall we? The TW2 was a prequel to TW3, it was a game that offered 40+ hours in the story mode, it had an arena and a story mode, it was more limited in scope than the sequel (TW3), the story contained events that lead up to the sequel, the same engine and many of the assets/mechanics were used in both TW2 and TW3, they both took place in the same game world, etc. Guess what? All of these things also apply to Exanima and Sui Generis which is why I made the comparison.

You're saying Exanima is a shell because it is unfinished but shouldn't that be obvious? It's called 'Early Access' on Steam and 'Games in Development' on GOG for a reason: the game is still in development and not complete; features, game mechanics and content are still being worked on. If you only want to play a completed product then why purchase games you know are still in development and then complain they aren't finished and lacking features...? Read my post above yours: I listed many of the features which are being worked on and it's quite obvious to anyone who's actually played the game that it's not an empty shell and that is has massive amounts of potential. Out of the 1,744 reviews of Exanima on Steam currently 84% are positive, which means the majority of people like the game.

Working on Exanima = working on Sui Generis since everything in Exanima is required and necessary for Sui Generis; all of the mechanics, assets, skills, thaumaturgy, and pretty much everything else will be used in both games. When something created for Sui Generis is in a playable state it is added to Exanima so that it can be tested by the community and feedback can be given. Just because Exanima is more limited in scope doesn't mean that Bare Mettle aren't going the extra mile to make sure that everything in Exanima is high quality; the lore, the game assets, the story, all the small details in the environment and the hand crafted levels... they are maintaining very high standards with both games.

Besides, if they stopped working on and selling Exanima how do you expect they'd get funding to buy food and a place to live whilst they work on Sui Generis? If all of the developers stopped working on the game full-time and instead worked at a different job full-time in order to earn enough money to live then Sui Generis would likely take decades to develop in their spare time.

Oh yeah, also just wanted to mention that the reason Exanima is on GoG is because GoG contacted Bare Mettle after playing Exanima and loving it. They saw that the game had massive potential and asked Bare Mettle if they'd like to put it up on GoG for the 'Games in Development' program. If CDPR devs like Exanima I'm sure it's because the game is an empty shell of a tech demo, right? :P

i make a mistake
Post edited September 03, 2016 by emiliokille
Okay, so now you're claiming GoG made a mistake since they loved the game so much they asked Bare Mettle to put it up on GoG for 'Games in Development'? Did 84% of the reviewers (1,500+ people) on Steam write positive reviews for Exanima (because they like it) also make a mistake? Hmm, this sounds suspiciously like more nonsense to me...

Trying to compare Exanima to No Man's Sky...? Why, how, who would do such a thing? lol. No Man's Sky = a game people on Steam gave very poor ratings, Exanima = a game people on Steam gave very positive ratings. The two games have nothing in common. Exanima and/or Sui Generis aren't being rushed out the door unfinished -- Bare Mettle are taking the time to do things right and deliver all the features they promised instead of rushing out an unfinished product.

And if it helps you to better comprehend what Exanima is think of it as Sui Generis 1 (the prequel to Sui Generis 2). Exanima takes place in the same world as Sui Generis in the Underworld which you can also explore in Sui Generis. However, Exanima takes place 20 years before Sui Generis and explains events that lead up to where Sui Generis starts. Exanima isn't a simple dungeon crawler... Here's the description of Exanima on the Steam store page:

"Explore, fight, survive and unravel mysteries in this unique and unforgiving 3D isometric RPG set in an original dark, low fantasy world. Exanima's exceptional attention to detail and realistic simulation of all things aim to provide a deeply immersive and dynamic gameplay experience.

Features include a deep skill based combat system, complex and smart AI, fully interactive environments, an advanced damage model with accurate collisions and locational protection, roguelike elements and an arena mode to hone your combat skills."
