I've tried installing and uninstalling Evolva several times today...
Every time I try to run it, the screen changes resolution (to 800x600?), the screen goes black, and then before anything else happens, I get an error citing an abnormal program termination.
Compatibility changes don't work, alas.
I'm running Vista home edition (I know, I know...), have a decent NVidia card (can't remember the exact number, but I can run the recent Cybertron game, for example, with all eye candy and no problems) and haven't had trouble with any other GOG games.
Any help on getting the game to run would be greatfly appreciated. :)

I've had the same thing happen to me too. But there's no abnormal termination message(though there is for just a split second), the screen remains black until I alt-tab out and end the process. I really hate for this to be a dud purchase, because I wanna blast some aliens!

I asked a similar question on the forum earlier this week, but no one has responded yet. Has there been any luck on your end on getting this matter sorted?
Try running as admin (if it isn't doing it per default). I had the abnormal termination message after installation when it tried to start without admin privileges (from the installer).

Got the same issue. The error message window is called visual c++ runtime library, so I wonder if it has something to do with visual c++ not being installed correctly, or perhaps a certain version of visual c++ not being installed.
The trick is two-part.

First, open up the installation folder, right-click evolva.exe, go to the compatibility tab, check the box for running it in compatibility mode, and select "Windows 95" as the mode.

Second, instead of running the executable directly, or using the "play" button in the GOG Galaxy launcher, use the "Launch Evolva" shortcut which you can also find in the installation directory.
