I've just lost all my Valets but one, who, on the other hand, is just standing in my Learning Centre incapacitated with 0 smarts. Any idea how I could make him function again?

So he's not using your learning centre facilities to replenish his smarts? In that case it's probably easiest to just kill him, and do the valet mission again. You are 'evil' remember.
