The game starts up fine, runs without any problems for any length of time, but the problematic crashing occurs whenever I try to build any sort of base room, be it a treasury, barracks or even corridor. The program freezes up and I get a generic "program has encountered an error" dialogue.
I've re-installed it fresh and still gotten the crash, installed the 1.01 patch and it still crashes, and added the unofficial patch with the same results.
I cannot figure out what's causing the crash at all.
