Yeah, you've got the right of it. It is unfortunate. And probably a more rare design choice in a space game than others since those always have crazy aliens running around too. Just a shot in the dark here, but I suspect this pretty obvious omission has to do with the story and the voice acting. This is a little bit of a spoiler, but they even mention it on the store pages - your Adam isn't the only Adam, he's a clone. I haven't seen anything yet that'd prevent the game supporting lady clones, but it would be a lot more art and voice acting, and probably need some attention to some relationships in the game. Maybe they'll add that at some point - they seem to be throwing quite a bit of support at the game, even after it's been released for a while. They're migrating it to a new graphics engine, which seems to be a pretty expensive, time consuming thing to do. Makes me think expansions and new features are on the way. Who knows though. Would be nice to have some choice here.
