Ml33tninja: I'm more than five hours in so take what I say with a grain of salt but SSZ is a different beast than Everspace in a few ways.
Here's some Everspace is
Still in development so its unfinished right now
No story elements just interesting Lore to be found. They state it will be adding story beats down the line
It has fluid combat like SSZ, but can go from smooth sailing to HOLY SHIT is a matter of seconds
Death is a part of the game so you need to accept that going in. Trust me YOU WILL DIE!
Its Rouge like so you die and use the money you earn to place minor upgrades on your ship.
You only have one ship so far but others will come later.
No transforming like SSZ so that's up to you whether you see it as a negative.
Personally I am having a blast so coming in at 30 bucks has been a fair deal so far (for ME at least) Hope I helped a little
ambient_orange: Can you tell about SSZ? Thanks to that guy, I checked this game and I never noticed it. Looks great!
I'm not the above poster, but I'll give my opinion of Strike Suit Zero.
Strike Suit Zero is one of my absolute favorite games. (Everspace is vying for that position.) The combat is awesome. Basically, if you are a fan of Star Wars sized space battles with the additional bonus of the Robotech/Macross aesthetic, then you’ll enjoy SSZ. Firing barrages of circus missiles, strafe dodging incoming projectiles, or bombarding capitol ships while evading enemy fighters; SSZ has it all. In the spirit of this thread, if a developer combined Everspace with Strike Suit Zero, they would have a critical masterpiece on their hands.
SSZ is mission oriented space combat where Everspace is more survival oriented with elements of realism. Hyperspace jumps occur automatically by surviving all waves of enemies and completing the mission objective. You can even bring squadron support into the missions. Fighters, bombers and even capitol ships can fly with you into battle. You earn a credit bonus for every one that survives. Credits allow you to upgrade your support ships and increase their number.
You earn upgrades for your transforming fighter by completing challenges.
My first gripe with SSZ is the lack of customization for the main fighter. Everspace’s arsenal is massive compared to the options available for the Strike Suit. If SSZ had Everspace’s upgrade system, it would be nearly perfect. My second gripe is that you can only stay in robot configuration for a limited amount of time. You can extend the duration by killing enemies, but I’m not a fan of that mechanic overall.
SSZ is an easily recommended must buy for fans of mecha/sci-fi space combat.
