Hi

I know I can disable the startup of SteamVR by using the -novr command line option, that works.

But please, can you just make it an option in Everspace to disable starting SteamVR, so I can start Everspace from inside the GOG Galaxy client?

Thanks.

Edit:
The command line option -novr no longer works. Only the first time I added it, it seemed to work. But all other times after that, it doesn't.

Hello! I guess your problem with SteamVR starting up is that the GoG Galaxy interface doesn't show up? This seems to be related to an Unreal Engine bug that any game which supports SteamVR will automatically start up the software, if it is installed. We hope that they'll fix this soon, and since we have to prioritize GoG Galaxy features over HTC Vive support, we'll submit a patch soon that disables SteamVR on GoG. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Out of interest, are you playing any GoG games or even Everspace with an HTC Vive?

Do you mean the Galaxy in-game overlay? I have that disabled, as I have no need for it.
I don't need you to disable SteamVR altogether on GoG, I just like to have the option to start without it.
I've tried the VR version yesterday and it was awesome :)
Unfortunately I can't comfortably wear the Vive for extended periods before my stomach turns on me :(
So if you can provide multiple launch shortcuts via the galaxy client, one with VR enabled and one with VR disabled, that would be awesome.
It's 2019 and it's still not fixed. My only option was to uninstall steam vr.

Hello, yes, unfortunately this issue still persists in Unreal Engine. We don't really have a way around that other than releasing a second game version without SteamVR support, which is not an option for us, so unfortunately we can just wait.
The SteamVR overlay shouldn't get in your way of playing the game in non-VR mode though.
Would disabling it within SteamVR be an acceptable option?

Uncheck this:
SteamVR Settings -> Developer -> Start SteamVR when a VR application starts
I wanted to return into the game but i cannot launch it without having trouble with the Steam VR starting anytime and crashing the game (cause I only setup my vr when I want to play with it so no helmet and sush are connected).
And the game don’t let me choose. I have try any option that doesnt work anymore. Is it something doable ?

I know you have launch Everspace 2 I hope you have correct this bug before launching it. But know I cannot access my Everspace one without uninstalling steamVR each time i wanted to play. (Those VR game when sitting make me very sick, so I can’t play with them like that).

Hope you could help. This problem isn’t fix yet.
If someone is still struggling with this. I look into it and found that the argument you need to add is -nohmd

Open GOG Galaxy and navigate to your Everspace installation.
Go to the game settings by clicking on the gear icon next to the play button.
Select “Manage Installation” and then “Configure”.
In the configuration menu, look for “Custom Executables / Arguments”.
And add "-novr -nohmd" to the Arguments

Have fun
