Hi folks.

I'm thrilled that this game has been released here, as i have spent countless of hours on it years back.

I have a problem thou, The game doesnt load when i start it. My screen turns black etc as if the game is being booted normally, and some annoying music (that i don't know) plays, and thenthen nothing happens. I have to ctr-alt-del to bring up the tool manager to close the game and through this get back to windows (i can see here that the game "isnt replying").

I am on a windows 7 machine, and have tried to change the compability to xp, and all the way back to WIN98, and fiddle a bit with the colour solution etc in the compability options to see if this would help getting the game to run normally, without success, sadly.

Do you guys have any advices??

Edit: Just tried to "run as administrator" for the heck of it, to see if it helps anything, it doesn't sadly

I have exactly the same problem on Win XP, including unsuccessful fiddling with compatibility and graphics setting. The "annoying music" is Paradox opening logo, located in \Avi subfolder. Apparently, installed version of EU cannot play its own movies properly. I don't have a clue why.

It's running fine on my windows 7 (64 bit) so I would suspect a video card issue rather then a Windows issue.

It runs fine on my machine: Windows 8.1 and two graphic cards, NVidia GTX850 and Intel HD 4600 (the latter runs the game by default). No issues at all.

What is your video card? Are your video drivers up to date?

I have a Nvidia Geforce GTX 760 as my video card, and i've just checked wether everything is up to date, and it is.

NVidia control panel has an utility to let you configure the settings for each game separately, have you tried it? here's a page showing how to do it:

Solution that works for me: replace the four *.avi movies placed in \avi subfolder with "empty" zero-lenght files (copying and renaming of empty log file is probably the most lazy way). Game itself then works fine.
