Hello everyone,

during the lockdowns my brother and me rediscovered our old childhood game Etherlords 2. Since we had plenty of time, we decided to make our own Etherlords 2 mission, which we want to share with you today. It is hosted on my Github account: github.com/aloeser/Etherlords2Map . It is a long and rather difficult map that can be played with each of the four races, and contains more than 100 different monsters to defeat, as well as some unique features. For more details about the map, just enter the URL and scroll down :)

I'm happy about any feedback!

PS: if you are looking for more Etherlords 2 maps, I recommend to check out the "Roguelike" map from Bonesnake: github.com/Bonesnake/etherlordsII-roguelike-map . It is a really nice map with many unique features.
Very nice work! The random spell distribution makes it highly replayable, but it's still streamlined enough to actually give a bit of an adventure/campaign feeling. So far i've only sank four hours into it but every single minute was enjoyable.

Some of my highlights were:
- following an old dude in his magic floating chair across the map
- seeing a mech worm, thinking "oh, just a mech worm", getting killed by two overloaded 6/6 hasters
- bringing a treant down to 1 hp, just for him to trigger his lifetap spezialization with his 8/2...

All in all: great fun and a great map. Kudos to you and your brother :)
Hey Simon, that sounds awesome! I'm glad you're giving the map a try, and even happier that you like it :D
The beginning can be a little tough, yea. Which race did you choose?

I've tried the Synthet campaign, and finished it by now - the last battles were really enjoyable and challenging. In the end, there was only one enemy i used your shortcut after 3 losses on, and that's also the only one i didn't enjoy: the pale healer (srsly, healing 64 hp per turn?). It was just too long and boring, but you can skip it, so it's fine ;)

Oh, and btw - i liked the "tough" beginning. It felt fair, and reminded me of the original tutorial maps - just to overthrow that expectation with some additional spell that killed me :D

I would have loved to have some settlements or quest in between, but that's just my opinion. Your scripted foes with special effects were certainly something different (Curse you, Santa!), and gave a very fresh experience compared to the classic campaign. Even a smaller map but with more of that would be great ;)

Yea. towards the end (paleness) most monster decks become more experimental (and more mean), but I'm glad you still (or maybe because of that?) liked most of them :D

I completely agree on it not having that much of a story line, at some point I simply lacked creativity.
Feel free to reach out If you want to create another map with more story or just more/other shrine/scripting, I just love this game and I'm always happy to help making new content :)

Thank you so much for the extra content aloeser! Honestly this Orc Shaman at the beginning of the Campaign ...I can't do the campaign because because He's (or she) is Super Orc. I mean How the heck are you suppose to proceed?? Either way - ty

Great map, super fun. i love this game too, spent probably 2000 hrs with it easily......but i need help:)
Played Vitals on max difficulty, reached final boss, no skill preventing enemies from using special skills and i cant do a single point of damage.....is it broken? or is probability so low that i would take days for a hit to land? :) Has anyone experienced the same?

Hi Tedorikk, sorry for the slow reply. I thought I had notifications enabled for this thread, but well..
Just to double check: you are talking about the official chaots campaign, not this map, right? I recall that there was an extremely OP Orc Shaman in the beginning, I couldn't beat it either. Absolutely no clue how that should work :D

In case you were talking about this map, by now the map has a feature to ask whether you want a certain monster removed if you lost 3+ times against it, to prevent players from getting stuck. I'm not sure if the your version of the map already includes that feature. Please let me know if I can help

Hi lukpawlak, I'm glad you tried and enjoyed the map :)

The final boss has two forms: in the first form, he's sitting in the chair, in the second form you'll trigger the fight via teleporter. The first version has Lordskin with 2 stars luck as its deck is a bit weaker. The second version has Lordskin specialization, with 1 star luck. If I remember correctly, this amounts to 1 or 2 successful hits from every 10.

So it's definitely not a super quick fight, but it usually can be done in 25-30 turns or so. I'll reach out to you in private with strategy tips to avoid spoilers for others :)

Keep in mind that difficulty very noticably skews the specialization RNG. Even in the regular campaigns, playing on the hardest means enemy specializations have several orders of magnitude higher chance of proccing than for you. For stuff that has 20% chance of working for you with Luck at level 3, the will AI have 50% chance by default and 80% if they have Luck. Some of the low impact specializations, like on specific creatures have pretty much a 100% chance of proccing for the AI on the hardest difficulty.

I think that enemy level plays a role in that formula too. It is entirely possible the enemy hero has 80%+ chance of proccing a high impact specialization like Lordskin.

Higher difficulty overall in this game just means the AI cheats. Faster ether channel gain and higher specialization proc chance.
