So i just recently started playing E2, brilliant game!

just finished the first part of the campaign.

What did i learn?

1) sometimes i am 'wtf' amazed at how much an enemy can field early on while i am sitting there twiddling my fingers with bugger all magic! hahaha..... restart and hope my manner spells comes up this time, lol

2) the auto calc button comes in very useful when i cannot for the life of me beat that guy. Does the Auto calc get extra manna? it definitely looks like it does? Its producing quantities of creatures i was not allowed to produce due to lack of magic (even with mana spells)?

3) Some spells that look very useful are not! lol

4) Save relics for very tough battles.... there is never a recharge station around when you need one!

5) always start with a level 2 creature. If you need to buff it for countering, its usually pretty effective, if it gets destroyed with a spell, the loss is not so great. (different situations may call for higher or lower levels sometimes).

6) often you find yourself facing a spawned creature/creatures for which you have no answer. Sometimes you can answer with greater numbers but often you don't even have that,,,, any relics? No? So your done, enjoy inevitable defeat.

7) Even a creature many levels lower can defeat you if it gets too far ahead in the arms race early on. Reload and hope you get a manna spell next time.

thats all the main lessons i have learnt so far. Any more you would add?
Update;

So that was interesting, i finished all the campaigns except the final battle which i wont be bothered with.

Here and there you find dudes that at first you think you cannot beat.... but each time i fight them and understand what they are doing, i can always come up with a strategy to beat them.... then it is simply a matter repeating the battle a hundred times until the random deck stops screwing me over and actually lets me do what i want to do!!! lol

As for the final boss battle, yea, nah, i don't see it happening, not in a million years (easy level).

Thanks for the great game, Now i have moved on to Neverwinter nights2 :)

Edit: Oh i forgot to mention..... i cannot tell you how many times i have read the description of a spell and thought "well wtf does that mean?" hahahaha you really have to actually use all the spells to understand what they do.

I've also found a slightly dirty but legit technique of overwhelming superior opponents. Like you, they burn runes to cast powerful spells. So I send fresh level 1 recruits at them and try to survive as long as possible - or rather, to coax that enemy to burn as many runes as possible. Eventually they get weaker for lack of runes, and I have a chance at beating them. Very handy when an overpowered enemy is approaching your castle with no obstacles in their way.
