I'm not sure if this is a problem with E2 or GOG, as I haven't dl'ed a game in months. That said, I can download E2, launch the setup file, choose the directory, and agree to the EULA. Once I press "Install" though, the text disappears from the setup window (I still see the image of the valkyrie), and nothing happens. Does anyone else have this problem or know what's going on?

(Win 7 64-bit; no issues with any other games, that I'm aware of)

Same problem here. I've run it under Admin mode too.
Edit:
I've re-downloaded it and the install run normally. All is OK now.

Maybe it will help some people. I had the same issue as many of you described here: the setup program would not begin the installation after accepting the EULA/confirming the path screen. I tried downloading it again and it didn't work, tried running it as administrator - didn't work.

What did work was right clicking on the file (in the Explorer) , selecting 'Troubleshoot compatibility', then 'Try recommended settings'. The system recommends the settings under which the file should be executed, so just select 'Start the program' and it worked.

Try turning off UAC (User Account Control) and see if that helps.

That did it; thank you so much! Now I don't have time left to play today, but...lol

Thanks to everyone who confirmed and offered solutions. :)
Now it works. Thanks for the help!
I'm glad this worked for some of you. Unfortunately, when I right click "troubleshoot compatibility," I get the message "an error occurred while troubleshooting."

I've never had any trouble with any other GOG game and I have dozens of them.

Any further suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Glad I could help some people out :).

As it comes to your problem:
The error message is not too helpful at all...
Try changing the compatibility manually: right click on the game's setup file -> Properties -> Compatibility tab -> tick 'Run this program in compatibility mode for:' and pick - any version of Windows XP should do it. Then Apply the changes and run the file again.
