I hate when RPG series have you playing the same character but reset you to level one or the equivalent between games without a good reason. So having recently replayed book 1 I decided to use a trainer for book 2 to boost my character to level 5 or 6 at the start because while he's been out of practice for a couple of years there is no way in hell I believe he lost all his skills that fast.

But the trainer, which is for version 1.05, isn't working. Does GOG have a different version of the game or is the trainer screwed up?
