Is there a point to the powder keg in the middle of the room?

Is the "Drunkin' Lizard" (developer's forum) still taking registrations? Seems there is no way to do this.

I guess I'm wasting my time as this area is deader then a doorknob.

Not quite sure where you are as it's been a while since I played but usually powder kegs are there to be blown up, this way it's possible to kill quite a few enemies at once. A quick tip though, use either arrows or magic to detonate, otherwise it hurts! ;) You can pick them up too and store them in your inventory to use later. They are also very good for clearing blocked areas. Hope this helps.

It's the room one is transported to after solving the level one puzzle. I've found no way of picking them up nor pushing them. I'd like to blast the door open as my picking ability for this door is 2% and its a very tough door (I'd need about four to five weapons to open it after breaks by bashing). It just seems odd, a keg in the middle of the room with a light pole on either side of it and a single, very tough door - no enemies. I've tried just blowing it but other then the boom, nothing happens. May have to get a "lock melt" and see if that will open it. On earlier plays, I just picked it but this character has never developed serious lock picking.

I seem to remember a key dropping when the barrel blows up which will open the door. If it doesn't appear maybe you could try reloading the game from before you transported into the room to see if that 'resets' the barrel.

A key would make sense but I think I would have seen the bag things drop in. I'll check.

EDIT: Never looked in the barrel remains but, there it (the key) was. I knew that barrel wouldn't be so conspicuous and have no use but I've not seen an exploded barrel before in this game that had loot.
