So I got to the giants compound, bunch of buildings.
There's only one giant that'll talk to me and he just tells me to piss off.

I have 2 lines I can say. The first is basically "ok, I'll go" and the second is "I'm a giant slayer" which causes giants to attack.
I have a giants skull on me which I believe I can give to someone and I thought it'd be here.
There's a goblin key in a box, but the giants attack if I take it.

Is this a bug? Did I break something getting the skull first.
Should I take the skull somewhere else?

I think I can just grab the key and run...
Haste should help, maybe grab an invisibility potion as well.

You have to talk to Omar, the tribe leader.

Yea, he's the one I've been talking to and he has nothing to say except "get out".
And then I can only agree to leave or threaten him and fitght the giants.
Maybe you have not picked up the correct quest in your quest journal yet?

Could be, I'm stumbling along in the dark now. Found one goblin key and assuming I need the other one as well.
Guess I'll try storming the goblin town and see what's there.

The giants are easy to kill and that's what I did on my first playthrough. I didn't even bother with negotiations. On my 2nd playthrough I managed to use them as an ally and its worthwhile. You want to make sure you picked up the quest. If you didn't then that is the dialog you will get. If you are a warrior then you really want the help they offer as an extra 3 tanks is good. Archers don't really need the extra bit although it might be useful for them. Mages/priests need them like a necessity.

Ive only played fighters and fighters tend to run out of steam real quick with enemies such as tauraxes, goblin bombthugs and mass amount of archers and what not. There's even some goblin warlords who are tough too. The assaulting the keep is the hardest part in that area, the others are just mildly annoying, even the main bad guy.

The best advice I would say is to go back and try and talk/get the quest for the giants from original questgiver.
